- Phos Architects propose a new square to each end of the High Street with individual character and function. The two new squares will act as bookends to the linear part of the High Street and Bank Street which will remain relatively untouched. ‘Monument Square’ will take advantage of the wide public realm to become a flexible meeting and performance space. ‘Cannon Square’ will lead visitors through a vibrant creative landscape towards a new landmark sculpture signifying The River Medway beyond. The two squares will create a unique identity in the Town Centre and strengthen Maidstone’s brand as Kent’s County Town.
